Some states, like Oregon, allow for returns of expired or faulty items, while others don’t even allow these items back on the premises. Be sure you are familiar with the regulations of your state.

Click here for a link to update bulletin 45 from Metrc that explains the return procedure when using the API for Transactional sales. You can also read below for more details on how to follow the bulletin procedure in adilas.

To return an item in adilas and simultaneously in Metrc, start a new shopping cart. Scan or enter your item barcode in the search field.

Change the quantity value in the shopping cart to negative.

If you try to add the sub to the shopping cart and the package is already closed, you will need to reopen the package in order to add the return to the cart.

It’s time to check out….

Once you Create Invoice, you will see on your receipt that all sales taxes have also been refunded, so your sales tax totals will be correct.

The return will be pushed through on your Metrc API Transactional Sales Page and received in Metrc. This refund will add the item back to your adilas inventory, and also back into your Metrc inventory. If closed, the package will automatically reopen in Metrc.

*You will need to do an inventory adjustment (update inventory count PO) in adilas to remove the unwanted item from your inventory.

*You will also need to waste the item out in Metrc.

Now you will need to start a new invoice and sell them the new item from the correct package with the correct uid/rfid tag. This will remove the correct item from your inventory, add revenue back to your sales, and add all sales taxes back for accounting and collection. This will also help keep your drawer accurate for end of day sales report.
